ROMANIA TOOK PART AT THE CONFERENCE “ CALIFORNIA AND THE NEW EUROPE “

 

 

 

 

Feb. 16, 2005- Department of International Commerce of Municipal Council, Los Angeles; European Union Center of California; Association of International Commerce, Southern California organized an conference-event named: California and the new Europe.

 

The event was structured in two sessions and it gathered local officialdom from economical sector, representatives of commerce from diplomatic missions of Los Angeles, also business persons, representatives of companies with different activities like: production, international commerce, financial, banking and investment.

 

 

 

First session consisted in the arrangement of six expositive stalls of Romania, Armenia, Austria, RAS Hong Kong, Holland, Poland and Taiwan Region.

In the second session of the event, Dr. David Andrews – manager of European Union Center, California and Associate Teacher at International Relations and Politics Department of Scripps College - lectured California and the new Europe.

 

The economy and commerce relationships of California with countries of European Union and Asia (Pacific region: China and Japan) was described in a comparatively way. The American public was acquainted with the setting up and enlargement of European Union, and was mentioned the advantages of Romania’s adhesion to European Union.

 

 

 

Regarding all the world’s changes because of the aggregate process of commerce, Dr. David Andrews said: “Despite of some commercial disputes, transatlantic economy is, for now, the engine of the international economy, and the economy from Asia’s region is, probably, the future of the economy.”

 

The conference pointed out, among other subjects, the importance of the prospect adhesion to European Union of Romania, and distinguished business and investment opportunities in Romania.
